With Vault Comics’ upcoming series, The Blue Flame, the acclaimed indie publisher is taking its first steps into the realm of superheroes. Iron Man and Doctor Doom writer Christoper Cantwell is joined by New Mutants veteran Adam Gorham, Kurt Michael Russel, Hassan Otsmane-Elhaou, and Tim Daniel to chronicle the adventures of a new kind of superhero. Instead of being a glamorous playboy billionaire or a well-connected reporter, the Blue Flame’s secret identity works as a blue-collar repairman named Sam Brausam
In the wake of a horrific tragedy, the boundaries of the Blue Flame’s DIY vigilante identity blur even further as he faces a cosmic challenge. And now, the Blue Flame must prove that humanity is worth saving to the entire universe. But in order to do that, Sam Brausam has to save himself to save the world. CBR sat down with the book’s full creative team to learn why they approached heroism in a very different way and the influences on the book.
